My aftermarket stereo has a USB input on the front face (not a power source, just an MP3 input). I would like to dock my iPhone 3GS and run audio to the stereo's USB input (no big deal). I can test this approach with a standard iPhone USB cable... but it will not charge the phone.
I was thinking about something like the USB + Line out, but my radio does not have an aux input. What I really need is a USB + USB out instead of a USB + Line out, but I know that would be a highly specialized piece.
One possible hack might involve CableJive's Charge Converter along with (dare I mention...) SendSation's PocketDock Combo (
http://www.sendstation.com/us/products/ ... combo.html). I know it sounds crazy, but I think this would give me a "classic" firewire power feed with a USB audio out. I know that the 3GS doesn't support firewire, but the Charge Converter might fool the iPhone into thinking that it is receiving a USB power source while the PocketDock Combo is drawing the USB audio source.
Too crazy?... or worth a try?
